Recreational Ski

Length: 15-30 km
Skiing Style: Traditional

The recreational skiing trail is a narrow wilderness track made with a snowmobile and a groomer, set in the atmospheric old forest of Kiiloselkä. The route passes through Ahopää to Latvakuru and through northern pine forests to Sivakkaoja. The ancient forests of Kiiloselkä guide skiers toward Niilanpää fell and Sivakkalaakso.
Along the route, there are three refreshment points: at the Latvakuru hut, warm drinks and light snacks are available, and a similar offering can be found at the old reindeer hut at Niilanpää. The Sivakkaoja lean-to provides more substantial food.
Recreational skiing participants can have free ski waxing if desired.
Note: The recreational category route is completely unlit, so please bring a headlamp!

Competitive Ski

Length: Approximately 40 km
Skiing Style: Traditional and freestyle

The route runs along the ski trails of the Kiilopää and Saariselkä areas, depending on the snow conditions, either over Ahopää or through Sivakkaoja to Laanila, from where you can access the most varied section of the route, the Moonlight Trail.
There are refreshment points at the reindeer gate and in Laanila, both offering hot juice, sports drinks, bananas, raisins, and pickles. At the finish, a soup lunch and the warmth of the sauna will be available.
The first kilometer is skied without lighting, so please bring a headlamp!
